50 Shades of Love is a series of blog posts sharing the love, diversity and magic of today’s weddings captured through the eyes of our camera.
I chose to share this wedding in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, as it features the destination wedding of our very good friends and newlyweds Greg and Elisa. Nothing could’ve prepared us for this very unique wedding we did on April 5, 2014 this year. We started out with a first glance on the bridge at the beautiful grounds of the Riu Yucatan where we were staying. We then headed for a very windy beach for a late afternoon of more photos capturing some gorgeous ocean backgrounds. Then it was off to Alux Restaurant and Lounge for an evening ceremony and intimate reception. Alux Restaurant and Lounge literally emerges within the depths of a naturally formed cavern aka cave formed thousands of years ago. It was a challenge because it was dark, hot and very low lighting and because there were crevices everywhere and uneven ceilings, our flash was bouncing all over the place. Nonetheless, once we got accustomed to what we were dealing with we got some beautiful pictures. We’re so grateful to have had this opportunity and hope to do more destination weddings in the future. Enjoy!
